Research takes time and a lot of resources
Altogether, blood cancers are the third leading cause of cancer death in men and fourth in women, in Canada. From the beginning, we have funded blood cancer research because we believe research holds the key to saving lives.
We have seen how science has uncovered important clues over the course of decades. In time, these clues have led to better treatments. And as a result, survival rates for blood cancers have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled since the 1960s.
Because it’s not possible for us to fund all blood cancer research projects, we put a great deal of effort in choosing which ones to support. And funding research is not an option, but a necessity – an urgent one
Our Research Strategy
1 | Accelerate impactby investing in research projects that tackle challenges from bench to bedside. |
2 | Address key unmet needsin the areas of pediatric blood cancers, survivorship and prevention. |
3 | Engage with the blood cancer communityto uncover emerging needs and opportunities. |
