Thomas Martini appointed Chair of Dare to Dream Capital Campaign and leads with a transformative $500,000 commitment from Lorval Capital Management ahead of World Cancer Day

February 4, 2026 — As the world marks World Cancer Day on February 4, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is proud to announce that Thomas Martini, President and CEO of Lorval Capital Management, has been appointed Chair of LLSC’s Dare to Dream Capital Campaign Committee, the organization’s first-ever capital campaign.

To mark his appointment and demonstrate his commitment to advancing progress for children affected by blood cancers, Lorval Capital Management has made a consequential $500,000 gift in support of the Dare to Dream Campaign. The contribution is intended to inspire others to help revolutionize how children with a blood cancer are treated, supported and cared for, now and in the future.

Dare to Dream is a bold and urgent initiative focused on one powerful belief: children are not small adults, and their blood cancers must be treated differently. Today, many children still receive treatments designed for adults, treatments that can be highly toxic and lead to lifelong side effects. Dare to Dream is working to change that.

“Thomas brings exceptional leadership, vision and generosity to this role,” said Alicia Talarico, President of LLSC. “His commitment to Dare to Dream reflects a deep belief in the power of philanthropy to drive meaningful change. This gift will help accelerate progress for children affected by blood cancers across Canada.”

Through Dare to Dream, LLSC is contributing to a global effort to advance cutting-edge pediatric research. The campaign also aims to strengthen advocacy and expand resources and support services to help children live longer, fuller lives.

For families facing a childhood blood cancer diagnosis, investments like these represent hope for a very different future.

“When your child is diagnosed with blood cancer, you want treatments that will save their life without harming their future,” said Staci and Artur, parents of pediatric blood cancer survivor Abigale Latoszek.  “Knowing that researchers and supporters are daring to dream of better options for kids like mine means everything.”

“I’m honoured to support LLSC and to serve as Chair of the Dare to Dream Capital Campaign Committee,” said Martini. “Children deserve better – better treatments, better care and better outcomes. Dare to Dream is about pushing boundaries and investing in innovation so that kids with a blood cancer have the chance to grow up healthy and live full lives. I hope this gift encourages others to join us.”
