CAR T-cell therapy & stem cell transplants: Treatment innovations in Canada

Join us for the latest medical expertise + lived experience of blood cancer survivors when it comes to stem cell transplantation and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy. This 90-minute live, interactive webinar is co-hosted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) and Cell Therapy Transplant Canada (CTTC). 

Stem cell transplants will be discussed by Dr. David Szwajcer, of Cancer Care Manitoba. Dr. Sita Bhella, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, will present on the latest indications in CAR T-cell therapy.

As well, two individuals will share their lived experience undergoing a stem cell transplant for blood cancer treatment, in one case, and CAR-T cell therapy for blood cancer treatment in the other case. Your questions will be answered by any of the 4 presenters at the end of the webinar.

Dr. Sita Bhella
Dr. Sita Bhella
Dr. Sita Bhella completed her medical school training at Western Ontario. She completed internal medicine and hematology residency at the University of Toronto, and then went on to do a Leukemia and Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant Fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Center in Toronto. From 2015-2019, Dr. Bhella was an assistant professor at Queen’s University, where she was the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Medical Director. Currently, she is the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Medical Director at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and  engaged and involved in the development of CAR T-cell therapy program.

Dr. David Szwajcer is an academic Hematologist based at CancerCare Manitoba and the Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is the Manitoba Blood and Marrow Transplant Program Director and the Director of the Outpatient Leukemia and BMT Clinic, CancerCare Manitoba.
