Physician Scientist Fellow Award

Physician Scientist Fellow Award

Canadian early-career blood cancer researchers are invited to submit proposals to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC)'s Physician Scientist Fellow Award Program Competition. This is a two-year grant designed to provide funding to early-stage specialist clinicians. This award will provide funding for salary only for up to $85,000 per year for two years.

This Fellow Award is specifically targeted at MDs near, or recently at, the completion of specialty training in hematology, oncology, hematopathology, pathology, or other related disciplines and who have initiated or have immediate plans to begin supervised research training directed at blood cancers. This opportunity is designed to foster, through provision of a contribution to their salary, the acquisition of skills and independence to conduct research in blood cancers at the laboratory, clinical or combined levels.

  • Call for Proposals - October 30, 2025
  • Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline - December 4, 2025, 4 pm ET
  • Notification of Full Application invite - December 2025
  • Full Application deadline - February 18, 2026, 4 pm ET
  • Review Panel meeting - May 2026
  • Notification of Awards - Fall 2026
  • Award start date - November 2026
  • Download – LLSC 2025 Physician Scientist Fellow Award Guidelines & Instructions
  • Download – LLSC 2025 Physician Scientist Fellow Award Policies and Procedures

The application process will occur in two phases:

Phase I - Submission and consideration of a Letter of Intent (LOI).

Phase II - Invitation to submit a Full Application.

Both the Letter of Intent and the Full Application must be submitted electronically to the LLSC Research Grants portal through Proposal Central. (You must have an account on Proposal Central and be logged in.)

Applicants are welcome to contact us about eligibility or any other questions about the grant.

Funds for competitive applications will be awarded on the basis of scientific merit, using a priority rating system.
